Thunderbird Aerospace
Thunderbird Aerospace is the first Indigenous Engineering Design Team at the UBC Point Grey campus.
As a diverse group of members, we strive to indigenize the Aerospace industry, unifying Reconciliation and Rocketry.
We acknowledge the traditional and unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, Tseil-Waututh, W̱SÁNEĆ, and Lekwungen-speaking peoples whose land our design team resides, works and learns on. As an Indigenous design team, we hope to strengthen our own communities, as well as those around us on the UBC Point Grey campus, with respect and representation.
Our Mission
We’re here to bridge the gap between advanced university education and industry standard practices in the aerospace sector. With our multi-cultural team including First Nations students from all backgrounds, we look to bring student rocketry to the professional playing fields.
Our long term objective is to not stop at a mere pressure fit launch system. Instead, with detailed practices in GSE, advanced GNC systems, and exploration with turbopumps, we aim to shoot for the stars above the Karman line.
However, we're not here alone. With support Launch Canada and established close relationships with other design teams and rocketry teams around the globe, we are looking to share our learning and technology to all those that dare to dream big.
